Kings of Gold

TV Series - Historic Drama
Pilot Episode - 55 Pages
Seeking Representation

In 15th century Zimbabwe, a lowly African farmer rises to power, fighting off foreign armies, lions, and his own vindictive brother as he creates what will become Africa’s richest empire - the Mutapa Kingdom.

It’s VIKINGS meets SHAKA ZULU.

This is the African hero the world needs right now.

And no, it’s not Black Panther. That’s fantasy. This is real.

His name was Nyatsimba Mutota, and there’s a reason why you’ve never heard of him. His rule over the Mutapa Kingdom in Southern Africa has been erased from history and suppressed. On purpose.

Though it was impossible for the white-run Rhodesian government to hide the impressive stone ruins of Great Zimbabwe, they didn’t need to. They would simply shun and deport any archeologist who claimed the structures were African-made. This happened even into the 1970’s. Instead, they proposed outlandish theories that this advanced civilization which commanded legions in the thousands, and presided over a trade network reaching China, was founded by Ancient Egyptians, Biblical figures, or even aliens. But not black Africans.

Times have changed, but we still don’t see African history as we should. Even today, the only stories you hear coming out of Africa are ones of oppression, poverty, genocide, or slavery.

This is not one of the those stories. This is a story of African GLORY.

This is a story about a man who the world can be proud of. And hopefully one day, we will all know his name.

Bad Origami

Movie - Romantic Dramedy
Length - 108 pages
Seeking Representation

A trailer-park single mom and victim of domestic abuse moves to Japan in search of new love in a country that is statistically safer for women. But instead of discovering a fairy-tale land, she learns that she can’t expect to find the perfect man without first changing her expectations.

Origami Instructions:

Take the romantic Japanese flavors of LOST IN TRANSLATION, fold it in with the culturally awkward humor of EMILY IN PARIS, and turn it inside out with the heart-warming surprises of CRAZY RICH ASIANS.

Now marvel at how adorable it has turned out, and squeal with joy.

When a Gujarati-American girl visits her boyfriend’s relatives’ rural South African farm, she finds that racial tensions on the “plantation” are at a boiling point, and that the farmhouse’s prison-like defenses are no match for the cunning laborers who are out for vengeance against their oppressive overlords.

This terrifying account of hate-fueled torture is a cross between THE PURGE and GET OUT, but based on real events.

It brings to light the Boer killings of South Africa’s wealthy white farmers, but the lessons here are anything but black and white, as it shows that both sides have blood on their hands, and that the killings are a testament to how bad things can get when racial injustice engulfs a society.

Book I
87,000 words

Sondja absolutely hates her older sister Léysha, no doubt about it. Because it’s impossible not to hate a girl who thinks she’s the most beautiful woman in the Queendom (even though that may be true), and who believes she’s destined to become a Princess at her Royal Auditions (ok, that’s also pretty inevitable).

But when Sondja learns that her sister has been the victim of extortion from a mysterious masked Prince, her hatred evaporates. And it’s Sondja’s love for Léysha that sends her on a mission to kill the man behind the mask.

The only problem is, once the Prince’s identity is revealed, is it love that Sondja feels for her sister, and hatred for this evil man, or does she have it all completely wrong?

Compared to other village girls, I was ordinary. Compared to my sister, I was invisible. Wherever we went, the villagers’ gazes magnetized toward Léysha. Their whispers followed us, echoing in every market stall and alleyway, “That girl will be a Princess one day.”

There was no shadow in Ylib darker than the one my sister cast in all her radiance.

When a little lie gets out of control, and the pangs of jealousy are left to fester, a devoted woman will do anything for the man she loves, even the unthinkable.
Then yes, my answer is yes.” Léysha slipped the purple pearl ring onto her engagement finger. “I will marry you.” She displayed her hand up for him to see.

“But only after my sister is dead.”

Léysha’s bony finger pointed to me, and I stepped backwards, wishing to melt into the shadows.

They say that magic is not a game to toy with, and they're right. Because as all true Magicians know, it is the worst of all curses to get what you wished for.
“I leaned onto his creaking desk, knowing that this answer would be the only way for me to undue the wrongs I had done. “Tell me,” I repeated, and scarcely breathed. “What is the one way to break a spell?” I asked.

The Magician finally whispered into the darkness, “Death."
