After a break doing bike repairs back home in the States, we flew ourselves and our motorcycle to Cape Town to start our great African journey. We zoomed pass elephants, came face to face with lions, and even got stuck in East Africa during the Covid-19 pandemic. But that didn't stop us, and we still hope to keep going!

Preparations
After South America, we headed home to get married, do bike repairs, and get our paperwork and plans straight before flying from Montreal to Cape Town.
South Africa
In September of 2019, we flew ourselves and the motorcycle to Cape Town, and after un-crating the bike (and learning how to ride on the opposite side of the road), we headed out to explore penguin bays, baboon valleys, and dragon mountains.

The Journey to Africa |
Lesotho
As we entered Lesotho, also known as the Kingdom in the Sky, we swerved along its curvy mountain roads and dipped into its pastoral valleys filled with cattle and majestically cloaked shepherds.
Namibia
The deep Namibian sands were not friendly to our monoshock, which we unfortunately broke. But waiting for parts gave us the opportunity to rent a car and explore some the country on four wheels instead of two.
Botswana
The birthplace of humankind welcomed us with massive baobab trees, free-roaming elephants, yawning hippos, and grazing water buffalo.
Zambia
As we crossed the landlocked country of Zambia, we immersed ourselves in the greenery, the steaming forests, and of course, Africa's greatest waterfalls: Victoria Falls.
Malawi
Even though we came during the rainy season when gorgeous Lake Malawi was not at its best, we still were able to admire Malawi's unforgettable beauty.

Tanzania
By hitting the muddy and off-the-beaten-path trails, we explored this land of the Maasai people, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the serengeti plains.

Tough Roads in Tanzania |
Rwanda
This tiny country made a deep impression on us with its stunning mountainous beauty and impressively perfect roads.
Uganda
As the pandemic gripped the globe, we found ourselves stuck in Uganda for seven months as the borders closed around us. But with perfect weather, friendly people, and every type of fruit you could ever dream of, Uganda turned out to be a home away from home.
Kenya
After being locked down in Uganda for seven months, the borders opened, and we headed east to live in a small town on the slopes of Mt. Kenya - a perfect haven that was close to both rhinos and elephants.
